OMW Secures Defense Verdict for Orthopedic Surgeon in Wrongful Death Jury Trial

Mike O’Neill and Nathan Hansen successfully defended an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Lake County Superior Court, Crown Point, Indiana in a jury trial where the plaintiff alleged that two surgeons failed to obtain appropriate pre-operative “cardiac clearance” of a 78 year old patient undergoing spinal fusion surgery, resulting in the patient’s death from an acute myocardial infarction following surgery. The jury heard seven days of evidence between October 19 – 28, 2015 before returning a verdict for both physicians.
